A brief introduction to me.

I am currently a first-year M.S./Ph.D. student studying computer science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I received my undergraduate computer science degree in 2009 from Williams College. More details about my professional work can be found at my UMass page.

The name of the site is derived from a very old computer game, Master of Orion 2. I began using it as my online username back when I first discovered the wonders of the Internet and it's stuck with me over the years. The site itself began several years ago as a way to acquaint myself with web technologies and has slowly but steadily evolved since then. The non-Wordpress parts of the site are hand-coded using the best text editor on the planet, Vim.

I am a born-and-bred Apple user, starting on a 68k Mac Plus and currently working on an x86 iMac. I also have a special fondness for Linux (GNU/Linux for you purists), in which I do much of my professional work and which powers this site on a Debian system.

Outside of technology, I enjoy roller coasters, playing classical piano, eating sushi, and running (slowly). I also have two fluffy cats and a lovely girlfriend of over 4 years.
